The J.Crew Collection liquid-gold sequined skirt had been taunting me for months and when I finally found one on eBay, I pounced. The store's description really says it best: Thousands of hand-sewn sequins—in varying gradations of size—shimmer like molten gold on merino wool. Most sequin skirts have a bandage shape, but this one has a swingy silhouette and is tied up with a French grosgrain bow. If you decide to stalk your own, please note that it runs large--I went down a size and it's still loose. I'm thinking about wearing it for New Year's Eve--any suggestions on how to style it?

Oh yay, the skirt is so pretty, I'm glad you scored it! But yes, it does run gigantically. I wear mine with plain black accents (pumps and a t or a v-neck) usually to let the gold pop. I think there are probably some more creative options but I haven't worn it too often and it's always more difficult to style than I expect, so I haven't actually come up with anything else myself.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a dark-middle-blue v-neck? Or a black v-neck with with a small black sequin vest, maybe sth. like the one in the link above.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is a gorgeous skirt, I'd kill for that one ^^
Have fun with it!!
I was thinking about trying it with a white blouse, tucked in, and black heels... maybe with some gold chains with a black ribbon tied on? I'll post when I wear it. :)
